Under such name there was held an Evening of celebration of soldiers internationalists of the Afghan War of 1979-1989 – veterans of Military Institute: Reserve Colonel Doszhanov B.A. , retired Lieutenant Colonel Perdibekov E.T., the ensign of a stock Tsvinger P.P., as well as invited guests — soldiers internationalists of the North Kazakhstan region with participation of the Chairman of the Branch Association «Union of Veterans of Afghanistan and Local Wars of the Republic of Kazakhstan» of the North Kazakhstan region Gamov I. V. in club of Military Institute. All of them were awarded by the Jubilee Medal «In Memory of the 25 Anniversary of the end of combat operations in Afghanistan», our veterans in addition received letters of thanks by the order of the Commander-in-chief of Internal troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan the major general Ruslan Zhaksylykov. According to the same order the acting officer — the senior teacher of Chair of Arms and Firing Lieutenant Colonel Alexander Vorobyov was encouraged with a monetary award as the participant of operations in Afghanistan.
25 years have passed since the withdrawal of Soviet troops from the Democratic Republic of Afghanistan . What do we know about this war? After World War II as a result of a new global repartition of the world the United States began to play leading role in the Middle East. In the 50th of the XX century activity of the Soviet Union strongly increases in Afghanistan, who sought to ensure the safety and accountability of the Central Asian republics and prevent fixing the U.S. in Afghanistan . . In the strategic relation it was attractive to the USA in a view of opportunity for placement there the American rockets of average range, and also the equipment for their use in potential war with the Soviet Union. At this time the USSR rendered to Afghanistan different types of the help, including the considerable financial.
Decisive influence in the confrontation of the USSR and the U.S. rendered the decision of the USSR to send Soviet troops into Afghanistan. At 15 hours 00 minutes on December 25, 1979 according to the order of the Minister of Defence of the USSR input of the Soviet armies to the Democratic Republic Afghanistan began. The first scouts, and then, under the leadership of the general K. Kuzmin — the 108th motor-shooting division were transported. At the same time the military transport aircraft began a transfer by air of the main forces of an Airborne Division of a separate Paraborne Regiment on airfields of Kabul and Bagram. Until the last minute paratroopers weren’t devoted to the plans of the top management. The transfer of staff required forty seven hours for which 343 flights were made. There were delivered 7 700 paratroopers and 894 units of military equipment to Kabul and to Bagram.
On December 27 the 103rd airborne division took under the control the building of the Central Committee of People’s democratic party of Afghanistan, the Ministry of Defence, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of Communications and other important objects of the capital of Afghanistan. Parts of the 108th motor-shooting division concentrated in the north- east of Kabul by the morning on December 28.
At meeting of the Politburo of the Central Committee of CPSU on December 27 were considered measures to ensure the propaganda of the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan and the transfer of power to Babrak Karmal. By this decision the truth about the Afghan war was hidden from the Soviet people for a long time.
The Afghan war, having begun on December 25, 1979, lasted 2238 days and ended on February 15, 1989. This date is considered Day of a withdrawal of Soviet troops from Afghanistan.
During the war 620 thousand of Soviet citizens passed military service on the territory of Afghanistan. From them 525 thousand people served in the formations and units of the Soviet army, 90 thousand people served at border outposts of Committee for State Security, 5 thousand military personnel in the ranks of internal troops and militia. Together with it 21 thousand were in quality of workers and employees. In the annual list of the Soviet Army there were registered from 80 to 104 thousand military personnel and 5-7 thousand workers and employees.
Total 200 thousand 153 persons were awarded by the State awards, from them 10 thousand 955 people were killed in this war. Among those who were awarded with orders and medals 111 thousand 966 of sergeants and soldiers, 19 thousand 261 ensigns, 66 thousand 251 officers, 2 thousand 675 workers and employees, from them 1 thousand 350 were women.
All statistical data, given above, are approximate, especially on the number of victims. Perhaps, we will never know the truth , but this fact at all doesn’t belittle feats made by «Afghans» – soldiers internationalists with honor and advantage fulfilled their international military duty.
According to data of the republican organization of Afghan soldiers, 22 269 Kazakhstan citizens fulfilled their military duty in this war. Now a little more than 14 thousand Afghan soldiers live in Kazakhstan.
All of them were awarded various medals, most of them have combat awards . Today they raise the honor and glory of warrior -internationalist — give their all for the benefit of the experience and training of young soldiers sovereign Kazakhstan.
In Internal Troops 62 veterans of the Afghan war are registered, 16 soldiers internationalists from them are in service, they are serving in Internal troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Among them there are participants, who took part in combat operations in Afghanistan in our Military Institute.
In eternal memory there will be the colonel Altynbekov Shamil Karabayevich, who was earlier serving at a position of the deputy chief of the Military college of Internal troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan on educational and scientific work.
The Reserve Colonel Doszhanov Baurzhan Alaynayevich, the teacher of Chair of Physical Preparation and Sports, the Lieutenant Colonel Vorobyov Alexander Vladimirovich, the senior teacher of Chair of Arms and Firing, veterans of Military Institute of Internal Troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Reserved Lieutenant Colonel Perdibekov Imanali Turgunovich and the ensign of a stock Tsvinger Pyotr Petrovich are serving today with us. All of them are awarded with various medals, the majority of them have fighting awards. Today they lift honor and glory of the soldier — internationalist – direct all the efforts and experience for the benefit of education of young soldiers of sovereign Kazakhstan.
On February 15 at the theatre of N. Pogodin the festive event devoted to honoring the soldiers internationalists of the Afghan war of 1979-1989 of the North Kazakhstan region and Petropavlovsk, including veterans of Military Institute with the participation of the Akim of North Kazakhstan region Samat Yeskendirov was held. Military personnel of Military Institute took an active part in holding of a festive event – the Military orchestra, the banner group, groups of carabineers and drummers were involved. The cadet of the 2 course the private Murat Erzat delivered a speech on behalf of all cadets of Military Institute of Internal Troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan. In his speech Murat thanked soldiers internationalists for performance of the military duty, for military patriotic education of youth – school students and students, cadets and soldiers. The cadet Erzat added «We will always remember your feats and we promise you that we will be worthy them!»
